The following are the statistics obtained from the audience after the University of Calicut workshop conducted on 7 and 8 November 09:
Day 1

1. Range of topics covered:
   • 27.5% of the people felt that the range of topics covered were very relevant.
   • 65% of the people felt that the range of topics covered were relevant.
2. Depth of coverage
   • 82.5% of the people felt that the depth of coverage was detailed.
   • 15% of the people felt that the depth of coverage was not enough detailed.
3. Effectiveness of methodology
   • 25% of the people felt that the teaching methodology was extremely effective.
   • 75% of the people felt that the teaching methodology was effective.
4. Pace of coverage
   • 57.5% of the people felt that the the pace of coverage was fast.
   • 55% of the people felt that the pace of coverage was just right.
5. Applicability
   • 25% of the people felt that they can apply what they have learnt immediately.
   • 70% of the people felt that they can apply what they have learnt somewhat immediately.
6. Choice of Problems:
   • 22.5% of the people felt that the problems were very interesting.
   • 65% of the people felt that the the problems were interesting.
   • 12.5% of the people felt that the the problems were somewhat interesting.
7. Choice of Exercises:
   • 20% of the people felt that the exercises were very instructive.
   • 70% of the people felt that the exercises were instructive.

General Comments

1.  A little more explanation will be useful.

2.  Speakers are quite understanding and taking enough time to make the participants understand the concepts.

3.  Good methodology, coverage, some topics difficult.

4.  Communication must be improved.

5.  Totally it was nice.

6.  Last lesson should be improved more effective.

7.  It is a very good programme as a Scientific workshop.

8.  Too good to be missed \m/ .

9.  Some presenters are working too much time on simple things, steps may be taken to resolve this.

10. The classes are very helpful, this is very useful to understand about python and its application.

11. This workshop is very useful to understand about python.

12. I understand the power of this programming language. Only 6 months back I came to know about this language. I am using little bit for my studies in mathematics. Python is the topic for mathematics degree students expecting the support in future.

   • 80.8% of the people felt that the depth of coverage was detailed.
   • 19.2% of the people felt that the depth of coverage was not detailed enough.
3. Effectiveness of methodology
   • 19.2% of the people felt that the teaching methodology was extremely effective.
   • 76.9% of the people felt that the teaching methodology was effective.
4. Pace of coverage
   • 53.8% of the people felt that the the pace of coverage was fast.
   • 30.8% of the people felt that the pace of coverage was just right.
5. Applicability
   • 19.2% of the people felt that they can apply what they have learnt immediately.
   • 73.1% of the people felt that they can apply what they have learnt somewhat immediately.
6. Choice of Problems:
   • 26.9% of the people felt that the problems were very interesting.
   • 61.5% of the people felt that the the problems were interesting.
7. Choice of Exercises:
   • 23.1% of the people felt that the exercises were very instructive.
   • 69.2% of the people felt that the exercises were instructive.

General Comments

1 As a whole the workshop was useful and informative.

2 Give more concentration to hands on training and theory together.

3 We could have covered solving equations at a deeper level.

4 Classes were very nice, even though we couldn't folow all of it [ I am very new to the topic].

5 Thank you and I mean it.

6 A good introduction to python language.

7 A second followup session is required.

8 As a whole, workshop was excellent, But mathematical apllication was not very clear, may be because, I am not from maths stream.

11 Good coverage; Effective methodology; Examples are restricted to basic math, physics. could cover examples to common people who do no know math advances.

12 Some what hard to follow.

13 Image manipulation using matrices needs more explicit and detailed coverage. Visualization takes time and need some more time to grasp.

14 I think it is a good program about scientific python.

15 The handsome practice with python was quite interesting and stimulating

16 The workshop is very much interesting and useful. I am a beginner and I find it little bit fast.
