REC Workshop Report

The following are the statistics obtained from the audience after the REC Chennai workshop conducted from 11 to 12 January 2010:

  1. Range of topics covered:
    • 48.57% of the people felt that the range of topics covered were very relevant.
    • 40% of the people felt that the range of topics covered were relevant.
    • 11.43% of the people felt that the range of topics covered were somewhat relevant.
  2. Depth of coverage
    • 20% of the people felt that the depth of coverage was detailed.
    • 77.14% of the people felt that the depth of coverage was not detailed enough.
  3. Effectiveness of methodology
    • 45.71% of the people felt that the teaching methodology was extremely effective.
    • 51.42% of the people felt that the teaching methodology was effective.
  4. Pace of coverage
    • 40% of the people felt that the the pace of coverage was fast.
    • 51.42% of the people felt that the pace of coverage was just right.
  5. Applicability
    • 28.57% of the people felt that they can apply what they have learnt immediately.
    • 60% of the people felt that they can apply what they have learnt somewhat immediately.
  6. Choice of Problems:
    • 42.85% of the people felt that the problems were very interesting.
    • 51.42% of the people felt that the the problems were interesting.
  7. Choice of Exercises:
    • 22.85% of the people felt that the exercises were very instructive.
    • 71.42% of the people felt that the exercises were instructive.

General Comments
* The workshop has created an interest in learning Python even more.
* Can reduce the pace little bit.
* I really admired the way of teaching.
* Try to understand the standard of education and proceed. Some may not follow.

* All sessions that we had for past two days is very useful and effective in solving techniques of mine. Please continue this good job for more like me.
* For me it is exposure to the Software Field as an oss
* Got an exposure to a new language. Hoping it'll be helpful in future.
* Learnt something new, especially for a non-computer student like me it was fascinating to see smaller codes unlike C++ and Java!
* Liked the entire session. Learning like this is very effective(ppt , practical doing). Awaiting for more such interesting workshops.
* I feel two days of workshop is not sufficient to gain such knowledge but it improves our interest.
* We wish this methodology of instruction could be implemented in everyday teaching + learning.
